INTRODUCTION

Since the establishment of the Company, one of its CSR goals is to support education and encourage innovation for the people of Indonesia, including persons with disabilities. As a result, the Company launched the Indosat Ooredoo Digital Camp (IDCamp), a scholarship for certified online coding training programme which aims to create young Indonesian programmers/developers, ready to compete in the digital economy, as the fuel to drive Indonesia to become a Digital Nation and assist the Government’s mission to make Indonesia a digital powerhouse. IDCamp is the flagship CSR programme to support the Company’s sustainable business. The programme is inclusive and designed to minimise the gap of skilled digital talent supply and needs, thus creating 10,000 digital talents per year. Indonesia is in the bloom of digital economy era with many business opportunities, and Indosat Ooredoo wants to ensure that Indonesians can take advantage when opportunities arise.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY

The programme provides certified online coding training scholarships at basic, beginner, intermediate, expert and professional level. The IDCamp is a flagship CSR programme under the education pillar and is a core part of the Company’s mission to “enrich people’s digital lives”. This programme empowers people to make the most out of technology and internet, as well as improving digital literacy. Furthermore, the Company is committed to support the local communities where it operates in, in which IDCamp supports the emergence of digital young talents and build digital ecosystem throughout Indonesia.

ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT

In 2019, IDCamp benefited 33,414 people, of which 26,714 people received online coding scholarship; 5,000 students in Campus Roadshows; 1,100 developers on developer meetup and 600 developers on IDCamp HackData - the first Hackathon and Datathon in Indonesia. In particular, IDCamp 2019 produced 4,737 certified beginner developers, 531 certified expert developers, where 401 of them successfully worked after completing IDCamp. As an inclusive CSR programme, 517 developers with disabilities enrolled online scholarship with 63.8% of them still in high school and college. At the end of programme, 109 of them successfully graduated from novice level where 15.9% finished on time and 2.9% finished with high score. Finally, IDCamp provide positive impact towards the Company’s sustainable business through positive press and reputation building, increased consumer appeal, talent attraction & employee retention, stronger client & community relation, and improved bottom line.

FUTURE DIRECTION

The Company continues to make a positive impact on the lives of Indonesians, with IDCamp 2020, targeting to impact 10,000 digital talents from Indonesia youth below 29 years old and vocation school teachers. Additionally, the IDCamp HackData will be held from September to November 2020 and it encourages young Indonesians to create innovative solutions based on data analysis using data sets and APIs. The IDCamp IMClass will be held from September to November 2020, provides free data quota of 30GB per 30 days for 3 months for participants to access online coding training platforms. Finally, IDCamp Bootcamp will close 2020 with a series of offline-online coding training for developers with disabilities.
