新時代·新技能,積蓄員工數位戰力,贏向轉型變革

PwC Taiwan

INTRODUCTION

Jobs are changing very rapidly with many vanishing altogether. New roles are quickly emerging, creating one of the most critical challenges of our time. In response to the changes in labour demand caused by transforming digital technologies, PwC launched the “New World. New Skills” project. Initiated in 2019, this initiative will invest US$3 billion over a 4 year period, to enhance the digital skills of employees worldwide with the goal of becoming a digital powerhouse. In Taiwan, more than NT$20 million has already been invested in digital facilities and upskilling training. The firm will continue to invest at least NT$15 million per year, to strengthen the digital skills of more than 3,000 employees, shape the future workforce, and help to narrow the gap between the skills people currently have and those required for success in an increasingly digital world.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY

The Taiwan firm enrolled nearly one hundred digital transformation seeds into Digital Camp, a digital upskilling development program. Consisting of nine months of training, this group of digital seeds would emerge with stronger digital capabilities, including familiarity with Alteryx, Power BI, and UiPath, to assist their business units in optimising daily work processes. In order to improve employees’ digital skills, the firm provided elective courses as well as curated digital knowledge resources such as AI and Blockchain for all employees. A digital knowledge challenge was organised to encourage employees to enrich their technological knowledge through a game-based educational platform. Additionally, customised technology-based courses were developed and this has been helping employees from the Assurance Department to use multiple digital audit tools to improve the efficiency of their audit work. Lastly, the company curates a diversified video learning, e-learning and micro-learning to help the firm’s employees embrace the digital world.

ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT

Shortly after the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tool was taught in Digital Camp, the technology was used to automate highly repetitive tasks which resulted in great increases in processing speed as well as a reduction of time spent by more than 90%. This enabled more time to be spent on providing professional business insights directly to clients. After nine months of learning, the Digital Campers completed 19 projects to improve the efficiency of work related to daily operations. Curated digital learning resources have been viewed more than 400 times and a total of 618 colleagues participated in four ‘digital knowledge challenges’.

FUTURE DIRECTION

Through a series of new learning interventions, the firm will continue raising awareness, developing knowledge, teaching technical skills and creating opportunities for employees to learn together and share their knowledge. Moving forward, by sharing the firm’s greatest asset, the skills, knowledge and talent of its people, the focus will continue to be on sharing professional skills to help solve societal challenges in communities. The firm is helping to create a better society for tomorrow and they believe it’s time to further accelerate that pace of change.
