INTRODUCTION
Fubon Life promotes the sustainable development of green finance in an all-round manner. Through the four lowcarbon strategies of green procurement, friendly workplace, paperless service and environmental friendly charity efforts, it has fulfill its social responsibilities through the implementation of green finance and responsible investment in response to the government’s support of renewable energy, and actively demonstrating corporate influence with positive energy. In 2019, the Company hosted stream-cleaning and plastic recycling campaigns nationwide and introduced the “ecological chain of recycling”. Fubon focuses on developing environmental friendly service procedures and leveraging digital technology to provide the policyholders with diversified and paperless financial services.FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY
Taking environmental sustainability and green operation as the corporate mission and goal, Fubon Life hosted plastic recycling campaign in the Northern, Central and Southern part of Taiwan, in which employees joined with policyholders and the public to clean out the garbage on the beach and in the community and producing mobile phone holders with the recycled materials, which is presented to employees and customers as a gift. The Company continues to develop environmental friendly service procedures in the form of reducing paper documents, electronic policy service and online claim payment to provide insurers with complete electronic transactions and services. By leveraging on insurance technology, Fubon Life’s medical team members utilises mobile devices to greet the policyholders via online video chatting, provide digital services for policyholders and jointly create a low-carbon environment.ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT
In order to promote environmental sustainability, the company continues to promote the application of electronic statement to encourage 3.79 million effective policyholders to jointly contribute to energy saving and carbon reduction. It is estimated that the efforts in 2019 will reduce carbon emissions by more than 495 metric tons. Additionally, in response to the government’s promotion of a circular economy, the Company has invested NT$216.5 billion in green bonds and alternative energy industries in 2019; during the promotion of the plastic recycling campaign, more than 27,000 employees received relevant information through the Company’s internal ESG environment sustainability newsletter. The Company also worked with external media channels to convey the concept of environmental protection to the general public, creating an exposure of 2 million visits on Facebook and community events websites, so that policyholders and the public can fully understand Fubon’s environmental sustainability policies and actions, and continue to expand the influence of its environmental protection efforts.FUTURE DIRECTION
Looking forward to the future, the Company will continue the spirit of “Positive Energy” and promote the concept of reducing waste from the source and promoting recycle to achieve the vision of complete recycling of materials and zero waste. Fubon also actively promotes initiatives to increase the environmental awareness of employees and the public, and continues to promote environmental friendly service procedures to provide more convenient financial services for policyholders. Through a series of environmental education lectures and activities, Fubon aims at extending the concept of environmental protection to the whole society and shaping a green leadership with practical and sustainable actions.
