INTRODUCTION
At MGM, sustainability is about doing well by doing good. To ensure the long-term success of the business, it is fundamental to look after those who mean the most to the Company, including: its employees, customers, the communities in which the Company operates, the shareholders, business partners and suppliers.The ethos “Create a Better Tomorrow Today” is the foundation of the sustainability vision of MGM, and signifying that the decisions it makes today, will affect the society and the environment of the tomorrow. The vision serves as a call to action to operate a sustainable and responsible company where the business activities of the Company positively impact the people and environment of Macau.
Employee development, responsible entertainment, environmental sustainability, and support for the communities are among many important issues that influence the future of the business. Guided by the ethos, MGM aims to empower, democratise and unleash the greatness of its constituents, especially for the sustainable development of its employees and communities.
OBJECTIVES
The four pillars of Culture, Careers, Capabilities and Communities provide the critical strategies towards sustainable development for MGM talents and the community.- Building Culture: To effectively democratise learning and build a vibrant culture that nurtures collaborative learning & development for constituents of the talent eco-systems
- Building Careers: To enable team members to realise their full potential and aspirations by availing best-inclass resources, leadership support, partnerships and growth opportunities
- Building Capabilities: To build the right capabilities to sustain and enable individuals and the Company to be world-class and compete effectively
- Building Communities: To build communities that promote learning and effective citizenships so as to ensure sustainable development for the extended communities.
ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT
MGM has provided a total of 917,000 employee training hours in 2018, and every employee has taken 85 hours of training in average. Occupational accident rate has reduced by 35 % in 2018. 85% of all staffs and management team are local Macau residents.Last year, MGM gained 11 prestigious awards at the “HR Innovation Awards 2018” by Human Resources Magazine, for the recognition of commitment to employee development and well-being, as well as obtaining the “Best HR Team in Greater China” at the HRoot Awards 2018 and honoured the “BEST Awards” by the Association of Talent Development, which became the first enterprise in Macau to receive the award.
The MGM Volunteer Team was established in 2010, and currently has over 760 members. It is a good team building mechanism to bond employees together in sharing their compassion with the community. MGM Volunteer Team broke a new record of committing over 10,000 hours of community service, and totally benefited over 1,500 senior citizens, 570 youth, 870 disabled people, and 1,000 low-income or single families.
