Nu Skin (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd
Since the project was started in Malaysia, Nu Skin Malaysia, together with its partners – IJN Foundation and A Heart For A Heart Program from Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur have saved more than 130 children born with congenital heart disease in Malaysia, touching the hearts of these families from different parts of the country
INTRODUCTIONNu Skin Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund was established in 2008 in Malaysia following the success of various CSR projects like P.S. The Children and offering education assistance to the Harvest Centre in Sentul. To inculcate the company’s culture and upholding its mission to be a Force For Good, Nu Skin Malaysia took on a more sustainable effort in 2008 to extend the company’s initiative to help children born with congenital heart disease in Malaysia, working with the country premier heart centre, IJN Foundation. Over the years, more than 100 children have benefitted from this initiative as at the end of 2015.
In view of the large and growing number of children suffering from heart defects in Southeast Asia, Nu Skin Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund aims to help reduce the long waiting list of heart patients in need of surgeries and treatment. With a goal set to Save 4 Lives A Day in 2017 in the region where Nu Skin Malaysia plays a major role in this effort, it expanded its collaboration with Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur in mid 2015, saving another 25 children in a short 6-month period.
FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGYWith the aim of helping children battle congenital heart disease, Nu Skin Southeast Asia Heart Fund Honorary and Board Members meet twice a year to review the initiatives and to seek ways to improve them. The IJN Foundation and Community Service team responsible for A Heart For A Heart Program from Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur on the other hand, will provide a list of children meeting the criteria by the Foundation and who are in need of open-heart surgery. Once approved by Nu Skin Malaysia, the health centres will proceed with arrangements for the surgery. The Nu Skin Malaysia management team will pay the child a visit before he/her is discharged. On top of this, these sponsored children will be invited back to join the annual Nu Skin Force For Good Day in June and Wish List Project at the end of the year.
Based on the theme, Saving Lives, Blessing Hearts, the Sales Leaders will continue with these initiatives and uphold the company’s mission to be a Force For Good.
