The company expects to help the society reduce the impact of an aging population with its efforts in the five areas to provide the elderly people with a healthier lifestyle and better living quality.

INTRODUCTION

Fubon Life has been sparing no efforts in promoting the “No Boundary Regional Development Program” to encourage young agents to build their own sales organization in their hometowns. The company also has turned its sales offices nationwide into service hubs that act as “good neighbors” to extend the company’s customer service and charity efforts. In 2017, Fubon highlighted the “Five Major Charity Programs”, which include caring for the dementia patients, caring for the elderly population, sports sponsorship, care for local community, and environmental protection. The company also leveraged its core competency in promoting public health and elderly care with its innovative products and services.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY

  • Care for Dementia Patients: Fubon Life implemented three programs to care for elderly people with dementia, including the promotion of identification bracelet for dementia patients, fund-raising and make-a-wish program for dementia patients, and recruiting long-term care ambassador in campuses and promoting board games to fight dementia. These programs are intended to care for the elderly population and raise the awareness of long-term care for dementia patients.The key actions include: (1) Helping more than 2,300 elderly people to wear the bracelet in 2017, which represents a growth of 15% from the previous year. (99.9% of dementia patients wearing the bracelet were found after they got lost). (2) Having raised NT$2 million with a “Love-Deer” piggybank to realize the dream for 1,000 underprivileged elderly people who live alone. (3) Training more than 1,000 campus long-term care ambassador and board game seed instructors to promote board games that help to delay the progress of dementia and promote the concept of elderly care.
  • Elderly Care:Fubon promotes three major programs: -(1) “Good Neighbor Health Promotion and Community Support” program –a variety of events focusing on health promotion and community support that attracted a total attendance of more than 20,000 people.” Transportation Subsidy for Patients Living in Remote Area” –provide transportation subsidy for 200 cancer patients living in remote area to help them go to hospitals. (3) “Board Game and Fitness Walking for Local Communities”-encourage the public to engage in charity activities to raise the fund for 10,000 meal boxes for elderly people who live alone.
  • Sports Sponsorship: Fubon Life has been sparing no efforts in promoting sports activities (ex. Fubon Hosts the first basketball game for elderly players with FIBA certification) The company continues to expand the scope of sponsorship to promote a healthy and active lifestyle to the public.
  • Care for Local Community: Implemented more than 100 community charity projects to support the elderly population, underprivileged children and public health issues. Fubon Life also implemented “Orphan Support Program” and “Make Friends with Love” scholarship program to support children in need.
  • Environmental Protection: The company obtained the “ISO14064-1 Greenhouse Gas quantification and reporting certification” and “green procurement model unit certification” for the first time in 2017

ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT

In 2017, Fubon Life has partnered with around 3,800 charity organizations and devoted over 46.000 people/times in charity activities (including volunteers) to engage in activities covering the areas of care for elderly with dementia, elderly care, sports sponsorship, minority care and environmental protection. The company expects to help the society reduce the impact of an aging population with its efforts in the five areas to provide the elderly people with a healthier lifestyle and better living quality.

FUTURE DIRECTION

Fubon Life Insurance has set up an ESG task force within the company. The task force is consisted of six groups, including social commitments, customer care, environmental sustainability, corporate governance, employee care, and responsible finance. The general manager serves as the head of the task force and leads the implementation of various ESG programs. Fubon Life not only intends to protect all citizens with a comprehensive set of insurance product portfolio, but also is committed to bringing more positive energy to the society by promoting business sustainable development, maintaining stable growth and fulfilling corporate social responsibility.

The total premium income has been growing for five years in a row. The total premium income in 2017 grew by 4.4% and reached NT$515.4 billion.
