INTRODUCTION
EDL-Gen will strongly participate to build Lao PDR the Electricity Generator of ASEAN and actively participate to build ASEAN region a sustainable region on electricity security. Besides, renewable energy operation, another important work that EDL-Gen set priority on is to maintain the sustainability of the natural resources as well as to create stability in the economy along with the socio-environmental protection. EDL-Gen has been implemented its work on improving and protecting environmental and social matters, in order to achieve the sustainability as well as the better livelihood of the local people. The company has contributed in varied activities such as: contribution on watershed management program, conserving the forest and water resources especially within the protected area. FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY
EDL-Gen has planned out its work annually; these plans are approved by its management team the government related sectors/committee. After the approval the environment division in cooperation with the environmental units at each HPPs of EDL-Gen as well as the local authorities will be responsible for details designed and implementation in order to maximize its outcome and ensure that the problem occurred has been solved and the target has been reached. Therefore, the better condition of the local people as the result by far has made EDL-Gen keeps up its works on improving and helping local villagers, to get the better life. This is not only to benefit their own families and their community but will also benefit the company as they will contribute in conserving and look after the natural resources. In order to achieve the fruitful works, company has been working closely through local networks, approaching the community by the local authorities as the coordinator and support some fund for the implementation.ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT
With the monitoring and evaluation that have been done at least once a year in cooperation with the government authorities. Applied the governmental assessment form and surveys including interviews the villagers and village authorities, to learn about their life improvement, life style, knowledge on varied issues, conducting these evaluations have let the company aware of their concerns and problems that need to be deal with, in order to ensure that the tasks have reached the target and to prevent further damages that could possibly occurred. By far, the target communities have received the proper infrastructure including water supplies, access road, and better houses, assessed to health care, education and employment opportunities. Meanwhile, their lives have been getting better than it used to be, not only the physical matters but also the better knowledge about their living.FUTURE DIRECTION
EDL-Gen will continually implement, adjust and create compatible plan from time to time according to the needs of the community though; the details of the work would have been adapted according to the experiences and the requirements from the local. The company is recently planning to work on strengthening the local capability and knowledge, to improve their livelihood and hopefully in the future they could be able to rely on themselves regarding the community development. Furthermore, few years from now, EDL-Gen would prioritize its works on promoting hygiene and sanitation throughout the local community as well as the educational program particularly providing library and organizing an awareness raising activities on environmental protection, waste management, and educational influences. Moreover, for the better expansion of its network, EDL-Gen will reach out for the corporation from varied organizations, especially the voluntary group of young generation as they will help out spread the words and make a better influence to the society.
The public company that generating the electricity & wholesale to Electricity Du Laos to effectively serves the nation and creates value added to its shareholders. Meanwhile EDL-Gen is also focused on enhancing the sustainability of the natural resources and society through the implementation of its environmental and social programs.
