Its mission is to create new entrepreneurs to develop the country, to improve their family’s life quality and creating added value to their community in Indonesia. From the business point of view, whilst implementing its financial literacy program, Bank Mandiri will create new loyalist customers and eventually will help Bank Mandiri to improve the remittance business and saving accounts.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY

As the target audience of Mandiri Sahabatku program, the Indonesian migrant workers are the proof that people who have no business knowledge and skills can transform themselves into entrepreneurs.

The program is organized by the informal local community in Hong Kong. The learning material was developed and delivered by outstanding university lectures and internal trainers from Bank Mandiri, supported by successful and well-known Indonesian entrepreneurs as their mentors.

The activities of Mandiri Sahabatku consist of 3 stages of training, which are: 1) the pre-placement program: introducing varieties of Bank products, 2) in-placement program: introduction and road map, communication and selling skills, creativity and innovation, identifying opportunities, business plan and cash flow management, 3) post-placement program: at this final stage, post migrant workers began to run business supervised by Bank Mandiri and well experienced entrepreneurs as a business coach.

This program embodies the word continuous learning to the very core, where the program empowers migrant workers to extend their learning process by themselves. Having said that, the migrant workers are able to enrich their skills with distance learning.
