INTRODUCTION

With a green legacy of over five decades, since its incorporation MML® had already embraced an eco-compatible business philosophy. MML® sustainable policies encompass Energy & Water Conservation, Life Cycle Analysis, Eco-Label by SIRIM and Singapore Green Label by SEC, 4Rs and the development of new green products.

MML® aspires to be in the forefront of the ceramic tiles industry for green initiatives in Asia. Its mission is to capitalise on the company’s culture of sustainability to drive reduced production costs to meet increasing price competitiveness in the global market. Sustainable measures are incorporated into MML® manufacturing processes, which are synergised across the organisation. In 2012, MML® launched the country’s first eco tile. Certified with ISO14001, Eco-Label and Green Label, another milestone was marked in 2015 with MML® being awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award for Exceptional Achievement in Environmental Performance. In the same year, MML® also launched a new collection – Ecocora, which is made from 100% rejected powder and filter cake from the production process.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY

MML® eco-compatible and sustainable policies don’t just encompass the way the organisation operates, but also influences their product design. Sustainable measures are part of the organisation’s DNA, which has been consistently synergised across its 360° infrastructure throughout the MML® tile creation process. From new product development, R&D, pilot plant facilities, manufacturing, total quality management, automated storage and retrieval warehousing system to logistics, sales and marketing, and customer support, the MML® end-to-end product cycle is closely monitored under one roof, continuously keeping the brand amongst the forefront of the ceramic tiles industry.

This project contributes to driving continuous business sustainability. MML® green initiatives not only offer competitive pricing to capture bigger market shares, but also offer more eco-tiling solutions for the growing segment in green building developments. In 2015, MML® introduced the country’s first Ultra High Definition Digital technology for tiles. By investing in advanced technology and comprehensive research and development, MML® has continuously created cutting edge and innovative products which meet stringent quality specifications.

FUTURE DIRECTION

MML® strives to achieve sustainability and resilience in meeting increasing price competitiveness by continuously driving green and lean manufacturing processes, to reduce costs without compromising product and service quality.
