“Ai Hua Jiao 爱华教” is one of the flagship programs that was initiated by Hai-O Foundation since 2010 in collaboration with Sin Chew Daily to reach out to local communities through fund raising concerts for educational and cultural causes.

“Talent Development and Improving Personal Qualities Through Education Excellence” “造育英才、自强不息” is the slogan for “Ai Hua Jiao 爱华教” charity concerts. Hai-O believes that education empowers youths for a better future. It is through education that future leaders are nurtured.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY

Hai-O’s continued commitment is driven by the belief that education is a fundamental right of every human being and is one of the important pillars for the growth of the nation. “Ai Hua Jiao 爱华教” differs from other charity concerts as it is an integrated event that reflects “Chinese culture”. This has been the central theme of the concerts aimed at preserving Chinese culture amongst the present and future generations.

The committee members, including the selected schools are the participating partners in the Project. Members of the committees work hand-in-hand independently and professionally to achieve the common goal i.e. to enhance the quality of school facilities as well as promoting Chinese culture.

The success of “Ai Hua Jiao 爱华教” depends on the spirit of cooperation and ownership among members and various stakeholders. Hai-O plays the major role in initiating the projects, while Sin Chew Daily is instrumental in giving publicity and raising awareness whereas the selected schools are mainly involved in the coordination of the charity concerts and other charitable activities.

ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT

Earlier in 2015, according to statistics compiled by the Ministry of Education, the enrolment of non-Chinese pupils in National Type Chinese Schools (SJKCs) nationwide has increased more than 20% over the last five years (2010-2014) and has become a popular choice of many Malaysian parents. This phenomenal increase resulted in many schools in the big cities unable to cope with the demand. The popularity of Chinese schools is most likely due to the importance of Mandarin where parents want their children to master a language that will be the lingua franca of the future.

The fund raised from “Ai Hua Jiao 爱华教” is be used primarily to upgrade the quality of school facilities and subsequently enhance the learning environment.

The charity concerts which have been held for 6 consecutive years have accumulated funds amounting to more than RM53 million which has been distributed to 39 selected Chinese schools. To date, a total of over 20,000 students have benefited from this assistance annually.

FUTURE DIRECTION

Hai-O believes that helping deserving and needy schools to get the best is the ‘eternal’ mission that inspires the company to pursue this CSR project earnestly and sincerely.

“Ai Hua Jiao 爱华教” has been successfully held and achieved the targets set for 6 consecutive years. This CSR project is likely to continue due to the strong spirit of collaboration among members of the team, in addition to having a common purpose in ensuring the success of this charitable mission. The huge success of the charity concerts inspires the team to work harder and strive for greater achievements in the years to come.
