The objectives of this programs are to improve the welfare of coastal communities and the conservation of mangroves in areas that experience mangrove deforestation, so it can increase the number of biodiversity in the area.

INTRODUCTION

PT PJB UP Muara Tawar is located in Segarajaya Village, Tarumajaya Sub-district, Bekasi District. Bekasi District partially located on the north coast of Java Island.

Changes that occur both due to industrialization and climate change, greatly affect the lives of surrounding communities. To restore coastal functions and provide added value to the surrounding community’s economy and environmental sustainability, the Company developed an ecotourism program by integrating several CSR programs. This Ecotourism program integrates environmental education and environmental conservation programs. This ecotourism is known as “Jembatan Cinta” in Bekasi District. Activities that have been carried out include mangrove conservation, coastal community empowerment, aquaculture, and local culture preservation.

The objectives of this programs are to improve the welfare of coastal communities and the conservation of mangroves in areas that experience mangrove deforestation, so it can increase the number of biodiversity in the area.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY

The beginning of the program is done by social mapping to identify problems, potentials, needs and vulnerable communities in the affected areas. Participatory planning is then undertaken by involving relevant stakeholders who can contribute in solving the existing problems in the affected area.

After arranging the roadmap and work plan that has been agreed, then the company implement the activities according to plan. Monitoring and evaluation are also routinely conducted to oversee the progress of the program and identify the constraints that arise in the implementation. This ecotourism program can support the operation of the power plant because with the ecotourism, cleanliness in the area can be maintained so that the effect on the quality of sea water used by the power plant for the electricity production process so that there is not much garbage that inhibits the work of the power plant.

The approach is done by involving fishermen and unemployed in the affected area so that this ecotourism program can provide alternative income for the people.

ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT

Until March 2018, the Company has planted 23,945 seedlings and benefited 440 villagers in the village. This program provides added value for the community, such as the implementation of clean and healthy lifestyle, environmental hygiene, biodiversity improvement in the ecotourism area, and driving the economy in the region.

FUTURE DIRECTION

In the future, this ecotourism will continue to be developed by integrating several tourist sites in Bekasi Regency, so it can involve people in other areas.
PT Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali (PJB) is a company engaged in the field of electricity. Muara Tawar Power Plant is one of the power plant which is owned by PT PJB. It is located in Bekasi District, West Java Province, Indonesia. The production capacity is 2,050 MW with environmentally friendly fuel gas. The Power Plant supplies electricity for the Java-Madura-Bali system or the equivalent of 6.000.000 household electricity.
