Assistant Secretary Herrera-Lim has 30 years of diplomatic experience, with postings in Washington, D.C. and London. He served as the Philippine Consul General in Chicago and Los Angeles. He has been a member of Philippine delegations to various meetings, conferences, and negotiations in the United Nations, World Bank, ASEAN and multilateral talks. A lawyer and economist by training, Assistant Secretary Herrera-Lim currently assists the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Undersecretary for International Economic Relations (OUIER) in promoting the country’s economic diplomacy. Concurrent with his responsibilities in OUIER, he was appointed in December 2016 by President Rodrigo Duterte as the Philippine Representative to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR). He chaired AICHR meetings and activities to ensure the promotion and protection of human rights in Southeast Asia.
