INTRODUCTION
As Perma Corporation is a current-impressive ecological innovation of textile business where clothing is one of human basic needs, it is obviously a feature of nearly all human societies. Mentioning about fashion in the textile industry, it generally means a diverse range of styles of clothing and we need to admit that the world of clothing is always changing as new cultural influences technological innovations. Therefore, such dynamic forced us to seek alternatives in fabric development creation that can serve functional purposes well beyond traditional roles to fulfill human’s need. As a result, we research and develop “PERMA™” which has incorporated nano zinc oxide into the polymer fiber by extrusion technology unlike fabric coating method that has an adverse impact on our environment. It is obvious that our innovation achieves a concept of “Caring for not only health but also environment”.
FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY
In order to follow government’s policy under Thailand 4.0 agenda and raise the awareness about CSR, the company initially has formulated frameworks that cover a broad perspective from R&D, raw material, design, production process to product care. However, in order to show our clear principles leading our company to sustainably grow, we set up the policy of social responsibility on 4 areas as follow: 1. 2. Think: To think for further development and support the company’s innovation research
To compete and serve many sectors domestically and internationally, we decide to invest in R&D for functional innovative products under “Fashion with Function” concept in order to meet the demand from our partner, customer and society in different product which still retain the good quality and function.
3. Innovate: To innovate and produce product with Nano technology
To think for a sustainable development, it is undeniable to think about “innovation” since it is vital to support company to be able to adapt to changes and to achieve better products. However, our innovation must be in respond to new technology including other materials that refrain from creating environmental impact rather than reducing the impact.
4. Contribute: To deliver good quality living and sustainable happiness
To deliver good quality living which is not only provides a product with smart function but also a product which covers safety, good design, and high quality for customers.
ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT
Perma Corporation successfully developed smart fiber which provides an optimal freshness and hygiene apparel and home textile for everyone. We draw inspiration from our stakeholders who have bed ridden elderly parents or relatives. Our staffs who are caregivers have a hard time from inactivity and prolonged pressure from lying down causing rashes, dermatitis, and bedsore wound. Infection in bedsore can cause a sharp foul-smelling odor. Overhearing our staffs’ complaints about smelly bed sheet, we came with the idea to develop anti-bacterial bed sheet products. To unburden their difficulties about bed linens, we gave away the bed sheet for free. PERMA™ bed sheet unexpectedly improved the lives of our employees and their parents by increasing grandparents-grandchildren interaction and family emotional connections as well as improving mental and physical health. This activity didn’t only build family connections but also reestablishing a concern for elderly health issue. This project draws attention to issues such as senior care, health management, and promoting a sustainable happiness.FUTURE DIRECTION
After we received many positive feedbacks from our bed sheet users, Perma Corp. consider continuing strategic collaboration with Prasat Neurological Institute and The Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association as well as donating our bed sheet to nursing home or healthcare center for existing bedridden patients or infirm relatives. Moreover, we aim to formulate the official CSR policy which can be divided into three phrases as follows:a. The first phrase: to give our bed sheet under PERMA™ brand to support poor senior citizens and to initiate CSR concept.
b. The second phrase: to collect feedbacks and results for further product quality improvement aligned with the global standards.
c. The third phrase: to discover opportunities to benefit society and ourselves by strengthening the competitive context in which we operate, to determine which CSR initiatives we should engage, and to find the most effective ways of doing so throughout the coming years.
