INTRODUCTION
With the “Owl Conservation Programme: [One For The All] Environmental And Ecological Restoration” project, Fglife aims to implement the United Nations’ SDGs and focus on sustainable development rights for local communities and future generations.The project also intends to promote biodiversity and effectively protect the natural capital provided by ecosystems while also engaging with stakeholders, integrating resources from many areas, and fostering diverse partnerships. Fglife works to create a harmonious and symbiotic world where humans and nature coexist in harmony.
FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY
Fglife plays the key role of insurance protection – safeguarding homes. The company promotes the “Protect 100 Million Owls” Ecological Restoration Project, which connects people, wildlife, and the environment in friendly relationships. By setting up habitat platforms on farmlands and installing nest boxes in forests, the project attracts owls to inhabit and protect the land naturally. The project also promotes eco-friendly farming practices to enhance the resilience of biodiversity and the environment in response to climate change. Furthermore, the project brings ecological education to rural schools, enhancing the next generations’ environmental awareness and creating virtuous cycles of mutual benefit.ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT
Fglife has managed to create 6 non-toxic ecological fields in the Gaoshu Township in Pingtung County, and Dongshan District in Tainan City. This includes the installation of 10 raptor perches, ecological monitoring equipment, and the placement of 62 nest boxes. These actions are done alongside promoting improvements in pesticide use over an area exceeding 6.74 hectares.The company has also managed to organize hands-on demonstrations of how perches work, to encourage farmers to embrace natural ecological farming methods and participate in eco-friendly cultivation. Under this project, Fglife purchased 1,000 Owl-branded Pineapple Cake Gift Boxes to support educational funds for children at NPO and bought 800kg of Owl-branded rice to be donated to vulnerable families through cooperation with a food bank. The company also works to foster a shared understanding among employees regarding environmental sustainability and cultivate service-oriented empathy through volunteer service.
FUTURE DIRECTION
In 2023, the concept of protecting owls in forestry is becoming more widespread, this was done by installing nest boxes in secondary forests as breeding habitats for owls. This effort aims to restore the owl population in artificial forests, expanding the ecological restoration area by 12.64 hectares. Through collaborative efforts between industries, Fglife works together with many others to contribute to Taiwan’s ecology. This innovative initiative represents Fglife’s dedication to the best and healthiest ecological restoration process for a sustainable future.
