“Energy Teacher” Online Course To Promote Digital Learning And Teaching Practices For The 21th Century Through The Khanom Learning Center Virtual Exhibition

INTRODUCTION

ECGO believes that a good start will lead to a successful outcome, the group has always operated its business with environmental consciousness in mind in all sites, leading to whole ecosystem sustainability. One of its key Missions and part of the company’s core values is “to be a good corporate citizen in society and pay attention to stakeholders”.

Throughout the company’s 31 years in the electricity generation and energy business, EGCO has been educating the general public, especially young people and teachers who disseminate such knowledge to others, to ensure a correct understanding of the relationship between energy and the environment.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY

In 2022, the group developed and launched the “Energy Teacher” online training course to promote sustainable energy and environmental conservation, easing digital learning and teaching practices for the 21st century through the Khanom Learning Center Virtual Exhibition.

The training topics cover the origin of electricity, the electricity generating process, and energy and environmental conservation. Focusing on primary and secondary school teachers while being open to any interested persons, EGCO aims to enhance teachers’ capability to effectively use digital tools to support their teaching and knowledge dissemination. The 20-hour online training program was certified by the Office of Basic Education Commission (OBEC) and the teachers can use the training hours to apply and upgrade their academic ranks.

ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT

EGCO has already held four “Energy Teacher” online training sessions with a total of 161 participants who completed the program which includes 131 teachers, 24 interested persons, and 4 students.

At the end of the program the participants’ satisfaction score was higher than 90%, 98.6% of work submitted after finishing the course passed the criteria and was applied to their work. The assessment showed that the 161 participants’ knowledge about power generation and conservation of energy and the environment significantly improved. They also demonstrated the ability to apply their knowledge and tools from the Khanom Learning Center Virtual Exhibition in their teaching and daily lives. In addition, they can also transfer such knowledge to people in their communities.

FUTURE DIRECTION

EGCO is committed to creating a positive impact that inspires the sustainable development of society. After finishing the course, the participants will play a more important role in promoting the understanding and knowledge of energy and environmental conservation among youths who will, in the future, be responsible for community and national development.
