Project Commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

INTRODUCTION

Faced with external environmental changes and dual-axis transformation strategies, AUO firmly believes that talents are the core driving force for promoting the sustainable development of enterprises. Therefore, based on a “people-oriented” belief, AUO actively creates a fertile ground for talents, constructing its environment and policy from a top-down perspective and allowing employees to gradually tap their potential from the bottom-up approach. Through the “ESG-TALENTS” program, the company looks forward to fostering the sustainable competitiveness of its talents and exerting social influence to create value.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY

To implement talent sustainability, AUO promotes the “ESG-TALENTS” program which has three core strategies (Engagement, Skill, and Governance) and seven measures of action (Target, Attitude, Learning & Development, Extension, Need & Care, Transformation, and Society) combined with the relevant implementation plans.

Through the Engagement Strategy, the idea is to enhance employees’ sense of identity with the company by cultivating their Target and Attitude. Due to the aforementioned dual-axis transformation strategies, AUO redefines its path to achieving this goal by arranging global cultural camps and new employee training. The company enables in-service and newly recruited employees to quickly understand the company’s Mission and core values of transformation.

Through the Skill Strategy, AUO will be advocating learning and development to nurture diverse talents by cultivating their Learning & Development, and Extension. The company not only established the AUO University to systematically cultivate employees’ professional and field knowledge but also used various SDGs/DEI-awareness shaping activities to cultivate corporate citizenship, thus, enhancing its employees’ hard and soft skills. In addition, AUO provides diverse global career opportunities to expand its employees’ international perspectives and develop global and diverse talents.

Through the Governance Strategy, AUO intends to create a friendly workplace to retain employees by cultivating their Needs & Care, and Transformation. AUO regards “employee happiness” as an important commitment of the enterprise. In addition to regularly holding artistic and diverse club activities to create a friendly workplace experience, AUO has also designed a flexible hybrid working mode to enable employees to continue to grow and contribute value while maintaining a work-life balance.

AUO expects that the cultivation of talents will eventually spread its employees’ social influence, therefore it has set up four volunteering systems (Charity, Green, Culture, and Education) for employees to realize self-achievements and lead the way to a better society.

ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT

AUO not only focuses on the sustainable development of the company and its employees, but the company also spares no effort in pre-employment education, realizing its Vision of “Go Beyond CSR, Create Shared Values “.

Other actions include promoting science and environmental education projects, such as expanding the cooperation between optoelectronics and the National Museum of Natural Sciences to create a learning base for optoelectronic principles - “Dada Magic Land”. This will stimulate the public’s interest in the basic science of optoelectronics through guided tours and on-site optical knowledge sharing. To date, the number of visitors has reached more than 1,527,065 people.

Besides that, to achieve an integration of learning and application, AUO aims to cultivate outstanding talents in the industry, expand core expertise, and gain feedback from society. In addition to launching GOLF (Gap of Learning & Field) alliances with companies, AUO also provides nearly 2,000+ internship positions to allow young students to enter the industry early, accumulate experience, plan for future careers, and improve their employability.

The above actions are promoted to suppliers & stakeholders to jointly advocate and share the good through the company’s CSR Co-Prosperity Conference.

AUO will continue to uphold its “people-oriented” belief so that employees can keep developing themselves in the face of environmental changes and organizational transformation while also being committed to creating a high-quality working environment with a work-life balance.
