Powering Sustainable Logistics in Singapore
Bollore Logistics Singapore Pte Ltd

Project Commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

INTRODUCTION
Bolloré Logistics’s goal is to reduce the environmental impacts of all its freight and logistic services while helping its customers to reduce their supply chain impacts. The company’s global CSR program is built upon 4 pillars, one of which is to co-design a sustainable supply chain solution with its partners. The company has 6 quantitative targets to achieve. These include the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 43% in absolute terms on Scopes 1 and 2 emissions by 2027, the cutting of 30% of the company’s CO2 emissions generated by the execution of transport services by 2030, and the increase of the company’s recycling rate to 90% by 2025. Other targets include the reduction of waste volume by 10% in 2025, the reduction of consumables volume by 10% in 2025, and the decrease of water consumption by 10% in 2025.
For this Asia Responsible Enterprise Award (AREA), Bolloré Logistics chose to highlight its overall progress in sustainability transformation, rather than focusing on a specific project. This transformation started in 2018 and is now accelerating year after year by including all its employees working in different departments of Bolloré Singapore.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY
Bolloré Logistics’ sustainability deployment has been placed at the core of its services. The company doesn’t try to just implement punctual actions, but to shift the whole company from doing “just logistics” to doing “sustainable logistics”.The sustainability team in Singapore is part of the B Lab. As such, it promotes a mindset of continuous improvement, transformation & innovation. The team comprises 6 people in total, covering energy efficiency, packaging and waste reduction, freight Scope 3 reduction, and exploration to test different continuous improvement projects.
Developing sustainable solutions and services is now fully integrated into the scope of work and has become a goal for the whole company. All management and senior leaders now have a sustainability KPI to achieve in the annual evaluations. All employees are trained at least once during the year and specific training programs are designed for each department. Along with this, the sustainability KPI and the entire project roadmap are shared with regional management during monthly management reviews.
ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT
In 2022, Bolloré Logistics achieved its targets and made many achievements. These include the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 21% between 2017 to 2022; the reduction of 30% (relative to 2019) of the company’s CO2 emissions generated by the execution of transport services; the recycling rate which increased by 82% in 2022; the waste volume has been reduced by 8% since 2020; the reduction of consumables CO2 emissions by 6.5% since 2020; the decrease of water consumption by 8.5% since 2020. Besides that, over 1,400 of the company’s employees were made aware of sustainability topics, among which more than 88% received formal training.
FUTURE DIRECTION
Sustainability now is a must-have for most of Bolloré Logistics’ stakeholders, and the company foresees that such demand for sustainability solutions will continue to be on the rise. The company envisions more and more project opportunities, customer engagement, and partnerships with its vendors on the topic of sustainability. In addition, the company added the aforementioned 6 targets to its QHSE Quality Procedure. This means that, now, those KPIs are fully part of the company’s procedures and would be audited by internal & external auditors, ensuring the continuity of its efforts.
Another point is that the company will be pushing for its internal colleagues from various departments to see the benefits of driving sustainability projects – so they have now more incentives to continue or even launch their own projects. For some initiatives, BolloréLogistics is also generating monetary savings for its customers or operations, and therefore its teams and stakeholders are eager to embark on more of those kinds of projects.
