The company aims to continue performing with Better Life for Our House Builders by implementing a plan to improve a better well being standard of labor and followed by Corporate Social Responsibilities policy, by creating motivating factors in many forms to build a happiness and well-being centralizing on our labors.

INTRODUCTION

The initiative “Better Life for Our House Builders” derived from the competitive real estate business in 2015 which caused low labor rate and a high turn-over. This effected the quality of the product and a slow residential delivery to customers. Therefore, a “Sustainable Happiness” concept to physically and mentally develop a sustainable happiness on worker’s quality of life was formed and operated as a core company policy.

Happy builder, Better Life – was regarded as a key factor for laborers. We believed that if we treated “people who build home” to have a better life, happiness, physical and mental security, they would be able to work efficiently and would lead to the company’s objective which is “To build qualified houses.” We started with a field research to investigate the wellbeing and the requirements of each worker and concluded to improve and develop a labor’s quality of life to achieve an integrated happiness on every side; a qualified well-being, a fair and lawful recruitment and constant education and learning.

FRAMEWORK AND STRATEGY

Better Life for Our House Builders project began with an on-field research using the “Integrated approach to address well-being and happiness of all aspects” method. Moreover, the company also modified the organization structure to support the labor’s need and escalated a better living standard, followed by Corporate Social Responsibilities policy, determining relevant departments to apply Sustainable Happiness policy to their work operation as follows.
  • A fair recruitment and welfare with a policy to only recruit an international labor with legal status.
  • Develop a worker’s camp standard to support a well-being life with basic sanitary facilities
  • Develop safe areas for children and create Child-Friendly Space center to support on follower’s life quality and reduce anxiety of the working guardians.
  • Labor skill development system by organizing professional skill development training courses to build good work efficiency according to the company’s mission and to be the reference to consider on labor promotion in the future.
Apart from the mentioned operation process, the company correspondingly determined its long-term goal for the project in resulting to an upcoming sustainable result including a priority focusing on a labor’s engagement and collaboration between units of government sector and other communities and formulated the “Good Labor Practices” code of conduct which might be a model for business sector in standardizing an employment operation.

ACHIEVEMENT AND IMPACT

The company’s previous operation was consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially on Goal number 3; Good Health and Well-Being for people, Goal number 4; Quality Education, Goal number 11; Sustainable Cities and Communities and Goal number 17; Partnerships for the Goals which were related to Thailand’s national agenda on The Anti-Trafficking in Persons in a side of ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all labors.

The company paid attention to labor’s life quality with care so that many praises have been spread and shown in Ministry of public health’s media. Also, the company participated in a research called “Building Future in Thailand: Support to Children Living in Construction Site Camps” from UNICEF and this campaign was published as an example for creating children learning center and has completely been operated constantly with the company’s ability to support 23 children in gaining basic education by entering public schools. Furthermore, the operational performance from many projects allowed the company to reduce contraction cost, decrease staff shortage problem and get a better work result respectively. (It was considered from an investigation on a construction’s quality and a number decrease in construction defects). Consequently, the operation on this direction was exactly a development on sustainable growth and the key element making a company’s smooth operation was a good cooperation from many departments across the sector.

FUTURE DIRECTION

The company aims to continue performing with Better Life for Our House Builders by implementing a plan to improve a better well-being standard of labor and followed by Corporate Social Responsibilities policy, by creating motivating factors in many forms to build a happiness and well-being centralizing on our labors. For example; a development on grading labor skills system to support on wages’ promotion to skilled workers, a long-term goal setting on children center and support children’s accessibility to receive basic education level, expanding children right towards guardians who are workers in considering an education importance as well as children’s sanitation care as well as an attention towards labor’s engagement by abiding and following under good governance policy in formulating a sustainable development.

Apart from the mentioned above, the company’s commitment still lies on seeking the best practice on creating happiness for “People who build a home” and stakeholders to formulate a sustainable contentment by ready to be an example for people or parties who are interested to pay a company visit.
