It is well said that ‘We are all connected by a love for travel’. With the shifting sands of time and a flourishing economy, the Travel and Tourism sector is on an upward curve. Among the key players in this expanding domain, Red Apple Travel is rapidly gaining ground by actualizing people’s dream of travelling the world. All this was made possible by Mr. Suneet Goenka, a post graduate from Sheffield University, UK.

Even his topic for dissertation was developing a business model that focused on the emerging frontiers in the tourism sector. Working on his dissertation gave him an insight into this field and a fair comprehension of its future growth.

After completing his education, he soon returned to his family abode in Myanmar. He is the grandson of the illustrious Padma Bhushan S.N.Goenka who founded Vipassana meditation centre. He was the recipient of many awards and honours in his lifetime, including a prestigious Padma Bhushan Award from the President of India in 2012. This is one of the highest civilian awards given by the Indian Government.

His family was at that time in the business of trading. The business also boasted of a small travel division, Bandoola Travels, which was a GSA for Indian Airlines. Armed with a vision of newer vistas for tourism, Suneet impressed upon his father that travel was more than just ticketing. Convincing him with a business model which he had developed when at Sheffield, he shared an idea of a commercial activity which evolved from this prototype.

Fired with a zeal and passion for succeeding, he was all of 22 when he took a plunge in the rough and tumble of running the business. He started an inbound division in Bandoola Travel. His vision was to give enthusiastic travellers a quality holiday worth their while as well as their money. Underpinned in the ethos of love for travel, love for people, and love for places, Suneet focused on giving a memorable holiday experience with an optimal level of gratification, quality products, and personalized service.

It was in 2002 when the opportunity beckoned. Suneet seized the chance and enshrined Red Apple Travel, a B2B business, with just a laptop and a steely determination. Though the company had a modest start in Myanmar, it was with steadfast faith that Suneet opened an inbound division in Sri Lanka. The company was soon handling 15000 tourists annually. This speaks volume of his sharp analytical mind, enhanced by high standards of ethics, constantly seeking newer vistas to realize his potential and drive.

From just 15,000 then, today Red Apple Travel handles 3,500,000 travellers annually, with the number steadily increasing. They also have an impressive database of 3000 customers and industry partners in 40 countries across all continents. The annual turnover of Red Apple Travel today is 95 million USD.

Under his astute vision, the company today has 19 destination offices and 20 sales offices globally. Plans are afoot to spread their wings in other destinations soon. To offer a holistic facility to his customers, Suneet built various infrastructures in the business. He initiated and enlisted multi-lingual team members in the worldwide network of Red Apple offices. Today, there are more than 400 strong eclectic team members who can speak diverse dialects.

Making yet another distinction, the company also has its own fleet of coaches, sedans and vans, all to serve the travellers better and make their way around at the holiday destination enjoyable.

Adding to the list of infrastructure, the company will soon have hotels at various destinations. This will further make the customers secure and comfortable.

Not forgetting the traditional tourist who misses his Indian fare, the company has its own restaurants that serve an array of delectable Indian cuisines. The menus at the restaurants are created with the tourist’s preferred taste and flavour in mind.
