Originated from a small Sarawakian town, Bintangor, James Hii is a modest man who rose from humble beginnings to an entrepreneur of remarkable achievements in the property development industry and an emerging community leader in Miri City, Sarawak.
Despite his busy business schedule, James is actively involved in community services and is appointed as a councilor in Miri City Council through NGO’s nomination. James is a passionate, observant, ambitious person who is dedicated to work with communities to help build social change. He believes in the power of learning from grass roots communities by listening, observing and building long lasting relationships with each other. Such interaction has not only opened him up to different opinions but also the doors to many opportunities.
James co-founded Green Summit Development Sdn Bhd in 2009 after years of stint in SP Setia Berhad. New as it may be, the company is already positioning to become one of the most rapidly growing companies in Sarawak, making its presence felt in this competitive property market.
What started with a small business venture in Miri with merely 2 sales personnel, to whom one of them is James himself, has now become an emerging company with over 40 employees. In the past 5 years, Green Summit Development has completed 5 development projects which include 3 residential and 2 commercial projects. Currently, the Company has more than 10 ongoing projects with an estimated Gross Development value (GDV) of RM350 million.
James’ business model is to always integrate a good product mix and he will never set a constraint for his company as well as for himself in making improvement and innovation. This is proven from the setting of the company’s direction when it was founded in the beginning as a sole residential property developer to involving in the company’s first commercial project in 2012; and by the end of 2013, where the company launched its first mixed development project that consist of shophouses and a shopping mall that conceptualized a ‘Neighbourhood Community’.
James indicated this project form a new milestone to him and his team as it is not only the company’s first mixed development project; it also opens a new business path
for the company – as a mall management, whereby the shopping mall in this project will be fully owned and managed by people from the company upon its completion 2 years from now. James highlighted the company will keep on working towards its dream of developing a township project; continuance contributing in making a better and improving life for this society.
While credit to the success of the company is usually given to the leader, James would rather give credit to his team. He remarked that heroism will never be stronger than teamwork; the success and miracle that a strong and united team can create and achieve is always infinite. He emphasizes his team is by far the most valuable asset in his company; together they synergize each other to work along with the company’s vision to focus on excellence return of properties investment and quality real estate development that maximizes shareholder’s value.
James dedicated his achievements to the great effort and commitment that his whole team had been contributing over the years and he indicated that his team will continue to promote excellence and dedications to its shareholders in compliance with the company’s slogan of being “The Builder of Total Values”. To be able to achieve this, James highlighted the importance of integrity in both the philosophy of life and product creation. Without integrity, a person will never gain respect from people thus the product he created can never earn the reputation and trust in the industry.
