Mr Chin Saw Yong completed an honours degree in Bachelor of Science (Statistics) at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and went on to work with Control System Integrator (CSI). During the course of his 9+ years of his career at this first company, he went through the hardship of gaining the knowledge in process control & electrical systems. He also traveled extensively to customer’s factory throughout Asia Pacific for commissioning works. In 2001, he decided to tackle the business world by teaming up with BC Tan. Both of them share the same vision of creating their own destiny and create a business that would be sustainable. When the journey started, he worked from a desk in a rented shop- office sharing with other two companies. Today, his office is situated inside a 3.8 acres land with 33, 000 ft² factory in Shah Alam which worth close to RM18 million. He started 14 years ago with 2 people and today, the company has surpassed the 50 mark in employee headcount including the 20 employees situated in China’s office.
Swift Solutions MSC’s primary business activities are to provide System Integration and Specialized Software/Application Development for Industrial Process Control System (IPCS). It specializes in the wholesome industrial process control and production management information application system for oils & grains industries namely edible oil refinery, sugar mill/refinery, flourmill, crushing plant, power plant etc. The services include design, supply, commissioning and after- sales-service of the Industrial Process Control System (IPCS). During past years in operations, Chin has ventured into overseas market that enable the company to secure projects and solutions installation base spreading geographically into more than 30 countries worldwide. To date, more than 500 Industrial Process Control Systems was installed and running.
The year 2006 marked yet another important milestone for Swift Solutions MSC Sdn Bhd. The company was awarded the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) status by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC) in October this year. The MSC has achieved a great deal in providing opportunities for technology companies and the company particularly pleased that the MDEC has recognized their commitment to contribute towards the technological advancement of the country.
In order to identify and secure new overseas market as well as new business opportunity, the company has set up regional offices in overseas and participate in prominent exhibitions. To date, he has established his overseas direct subsidiary companies in Singapore, Chongqing & Guangzhou, China and Thailand to better address the market. Chin envisage in the near future, setting up company in Indonesia & Vietnam.
As the co-founder and general manager, Chin oversees operations and market development of the company. He is hands on and emphasizes on implementation, strong follow through, reporting, and matching initiatives to timeframes. The business is his passion and managing details requires many long hours. Having developed a strong, committed and loyalty team of employees is also one of the main factors that contribute to his success. Employee’s performance will be regularly monitored where competency gaps are identified and addressed accordingly. As for development of human capital, the company continuously provides learning and growth opportunities to ensure employees are able to realize their full potential. Starting in 2014, the company has established key result areas (KRA) and key performance indicators (KPI) to provide a framework for the development of Swift Solution MSC management system.
Chin has pick up running long distance since 2011 and participated in his first half-marathon in 2013. He likes running especially running the long distance, which encourages him to constantly thinking far ahead. He always reminds himself of the quote from a businessman who also shares the same passion in marathon; “Thinking of long-term while focusing on the short-term”.

The Company’s mission is to be in the top two market players in providing engineering solutions company in our chosen market and to develop skilled and committed workforce who share the company’s vision and wealth.
Chin said the long hours he has invested in growing the business doesn’t feel like work because he is actually having fun in what he is doing. As entrepreneur, he loves the idea that while building the business, he is also able to give back to the community in the form of the products and services the company offers, by donating to charities and especially the ability to create jobs.
He likes to use the Japanese Proverb, “Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare,” to remind himself as well as advice to others. He says, “Some of the first actions are to develop and take ‘Baby Steps’ first thing’s first. Success does require action, but you have to develop a plan and then take the thoughtful steps.”
