Mehru is the brainchild of Mr Sandeep Prakash Sharma, Executive Director of Mehru Elect. & Mech. Engg. P. Ltd Sandeep began his career, armed with a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics from MIT, Manipal. He stood first in the university and was awarded the Best Outgoing Electrical Engineering Student of 1995. This was no mean feat as Manipal is one of the premier educational institutions of India, which boasts of famous alumni like Satya Nadella (CEO, Microsoft) and Rajeev Suri (CEO, Nokia) to name a few.
Sandeep was the only student handpicked during the campus recruitment by ABB Ltd, a multinational company, manufacturing various electrical equipment. During his year’s stint with ABB, Sandeep was quick to observe that Instrument Transformers had to be custom-made as per specific requirements and were particularly prone to failure. There was also a dearth of quality Instrument Transformer manufacturing facilities in the country.
With a clear vision and determination to overcome the shortcomings and flaws in the existing Instrument Transformer manufacturing processes, he moved to AE Ltd, a relatively smaller company but solely dedicated to the manufacture of Instrument Transformers.
After devoting a year to gain an insight and understanding into Instrument Transformers, he set up his own Instrument manufacturing unit,”Mehru” at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, India. The company was established in 1997, with two employees in 10,000 sq. ft. area and turnover of 8,000 USD in the first year. From humble beginnings to over 600 employees, 3 dedicated manufacturing facilities spread over an area of 100,000 sq. ft. and
a turnover of 20 million USD. The organization has since been going from strength to strength. Mehru presently stands in the August league of Industry giants ABB, ALSTOM, Siemens, BHEL to manufacture EHV Instrument Transformers.
To control quality standards various equipment such as winding machines, vacuum ovens etc. have been designed and manufactured in house. Manual processes such as insulation have been automated to optimize accuracy and enhance output. A state-of-the-art research and development department is continually engaged in developing new products and bettering the existing ones.
Mehru, is an ISO 9001: 2008, ISO 14001: 2004 and ISO 17025: 2005 company manufacturing Instrument Transformers up to 400 kV and High Voltage Test Sets upto 600 kV.
The products manufactured by Mehru incorporate the best and the most modern technology, to ensure a good quality product. All the Instrument Transformers have been type tested as per IEC/ IS/ ANSI Standards.
